The Tennessee Lady Vols added Justine Pissott out of Toms River, N.J.

With two 2020 signees and four commitments for 2021, Kellie Harper has the Tennessee Lady Vols now looking ahead to 2022. On Thursday, she got a huge in for that class, continuing Rocky Top’s momentum on the trail.

New Jersey wing Justine Pissott, a four-star on ESPNW recruiting, became the first commitment in the Lady Vols’ 2022 class. Listed at 6’2″ on the recruiting site, Pissott hails from Red Bank Catholic High School in Toms River, N.J. and is the No. 49 ranked prospect nationally on ESPN.

According to Maria M. Cornelius of GoVols247, she is not 6’4″ and is just the second player ever out of New Jersey to join the women’s basketball Volunteers program. She announced her commitment to the Tennessee Lady Vols on Twitter.

Cornelius reported that Pissott had been working as a guard, standing at 5’10”, before she had a growth spurt in 2018. She jumped to 6’2″ then. As a result, she is now considered a wing with elite guard skills, which includes sharpshooting.

Being able to stretch the floor with an outside shot has been key to Harper’s focus on the recruiting trail. She’s not loading up on athletic combo guards with good size as much as Holly Warlick did but instead relying on a size advantage in the post and outside shooters to create more balance.

A wing who could bring both things to the table is a major advantage. After all, Rennia Davis and Rae Burrell were the two best scorers on Harper’s first team, and that’s what Pissott is likely to bring to the table. Here is a look at her highlight reel.

As you can see, Pissott truly is a complete player. She has handles, she can run the floor and she can shoot from the outside. In fact, her crossover is elite. It’s hard to find a weakness in her offensive game with those highlights.

Given the fact that Davis entering her senior year and Burrell entering her junior year, Pissott will join the Tennessee Lady Vols just as Burrell graduates. She is likely to be the heir apparent to those two in Harper’s system and could immediately turn into a star.
