Here are photos from the Tennessee football Volunteers’ loss to the Bulldogs.
Well, Tennessee football managed to make it interesting for a half in front of a CBS audience. The Vols jumped out to a 7-0 lead over the Georgia Bulldogs and then took a 21-17 lead into halftime before a disastrous third quarter turned everything around.
That might make this game seem forgettable. A memorable eight-game winning streak for Rocky Top came to an end thanks to this game, and it was the first loss of the season for Jeremy Pruitt’s team as well.
However, there were plenty of moments worth recreating and living, from the Vols’ opening touchdown to their multiple fourth down stops. Let’s look back on it all, though, even the bad parts from Saturday afternoon for UT. Here are photos from Tennessee football’s blowout loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.
It was hard for the Vols to overcome 84 penalty yards and three second-half turnovers, including two on their first two offensive drive. These guys clearly still have lots of issues to work out, and all of that was on display in this one. Penalties, tackling and offensive line play stand out.
To make matters worse, the game could have been more of a blowout, as this team was out-gained 431 to 214 in terms of total offense, and UT only surpassed the 200-yard mark in garbage time late. Simply put, things that looked encouraging with wins over the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Missouri Tigers were exposed in this game.
Up next for Tennessee football will be a matchup against the Kentucky Wildcats. The Vols then face the Alabama Crimson Tide before going on a bye week. However, they are in great position to get to 3-1 next week, and there is still a lot to play for. Nobody should ignore the fact that Georgia is an elite team this year in Kirby Smart’s fifth season.
