These were the best Tennessee football Volunteers players at the Bulldogs.

It’s hard to look at how the second half went on Saturday as Tennessee football lost to the Georgia Bulldogs and find any positives in that game. All that will stand out are three turnovers in a half that led to 13 points and another defensive collapse on two third downs on a drive.

However, the Vols did hang with the No. 3 ranked Dawgs for a half, and they certainly gave Kirby Smart’s team quite a scare. Although UGA had to make tons of mistakes for Rocky Top to head into halftime with a 21-17 lead, UT had to make a ton of mistakes to put Georgia back in control.

Simply put, Tennessee football still had to cash in on those mistakes early and was certainly in position to take control of the game, something that didn’t apply the previous couple of years. Regardless of what anybody says, somebody had to get credit for that.

Well, we’re going to dish out that credit. While there is plenty of blame to go around for the Vols’ 44-21 loss in Athens, Ga., there are numerous players who should be proud of their performance also. We are going to break down all of those players here.

As we usually do with our top performers, this list includes players who played well throughout the day along with players who came through for big plays in specific moments. Given the flow of this game, most of these players are on the list for big plays in specific moments. A couple of them, though, played well throughout the day.

In general, none of these players are at fault for the collapse in the second half. They are the reason the Vols were in position to need to collapse for Georgia to take back control of the game. But who specifically are we talking about? Let’s break that down here. These are Tennessee football’s five best performers in the Vols’ 44-21 loss at the Bulldogs.
