Lost to Texas A&M Aggies 41-38

On one hand, the Florida Gators’ wins over the Ole Miss Rebels and South Carolina Gamecocks both look better after this past weekend. At the same time, though, they lost to the Texas A&M Aggies, a team they should have beaten. Like Tennessee football, the combination of losing but their resume looking better drops them slightly in our SEC Power Rankings.

Dan Mullen’s offense was still no problem with Kyle Trask at quarterback, as he threw for over 300 yards and four touchdowns with no turnovers. However, the defense could not stop a balanced attack from Jimbo Fisher’s team to save its life, allowing 543 yards of total offense. The shocking part is that this team only lost by three given that collapse.

Is Texas A&M truly that good now, or is Florida just overrated? After all, A&M struggled to put away the Vanderbilt Commodores earlier in the season. Well, we’ll find out about both in the coming weeks, and with Florida, that includes two of the next three games. For now, though, they are still flirting as a top tier SEC team.

Up next for them is a home game against the LSU Tigers, and Ed Orgeron’s team can still be dangerous. After that they host a resurgent Missouri Tigers team, and then they have a bye before their major showdown with the Georgia Bulldogs, which will happen on Nov. 7. As a result, on paper, October should be easier for them, but they can’t take any breaks.
