Lost to South Carolina Gamecocks 41-7

This one’s pretty obvious. There’s one team in the SEC that hasn’t yet one a game, and that team is the Vanderbilt Commodores. In fact, after hanging tough with the Texas A&M Aggies in their opener, Derek Mason’s team has collapsed, losing 41-7 in back to back games. As a result, they are clearly at the bottom of our power rankings this week.

Vandy is the only win for two other teams in the league right now. This program is in a disastrous state, and it looks like it’s only gotten worse as the season has progressed. Coaches should have a mulligan with this 10-game SEC-only schedule, but you have to wonder if Mason deserves it given how long he has been there.

Simply put, this year, Tennessee football should not have the trouble with the ‘Dores that it’s had in recent years. Now, the one positive is the running backs in Keyon Henry-Brooks and Jamauri Wakefield appear to be solid weapons that can help turn this season around. However, that’s a tiny glimmer of hope, and it’s hard to see it amounting to anything.

It’s going to take some time for this team to be able to turn things around as well. This week’s matchup with the Missouri Tigers has been postponed to Dec. 12, and then they have a bye. So these guys have three weeks to correct things before the Ole Miss Rebels come to town. Whether or not they do it is debatable.
