Tennessee football still in top half of SEC Power Rankings after Week 6 of 2020
Lost to Missouri Tigers 45-41
Given the fact that their only win is over the Vanderbilt Commodores, the defending national champion LSU Tigers have nothing to brag about in the SEC right now. Coming off losing to the Missouri Tigers, Ed Orgeron’s team has no wins against a team with a win, and both of their losses are to teams currently 1-2.
That means that LSU is the only win for two different teams. All three teams it has played are winless against teams outside of facing them. Simply put, they have had one of the easiest schedules in the league and still have one of the worst resumes. As a result, they belong near the bottom of our SEC Power Rankings.
Of course, they made Tennessee football’s win over Mizzou look pretty good on Saturday. You have to wonder if LSU can continue moving forward with Bo Pelini as defensive coordinator given his early struggles. This team misses Dave Aranda significantly, as the offense hasn’t missed much with Myles Brennan running the show.
Things aren’t about to get any easier, though. Up next for this team is a trip to the Florida Gators, meaning it is likely to fall to 1-3. The South Carolina Gamecocks and Auburn Tigers are next before the bye. As a result, getting to 3-3 is likely the best-case scenario for them as they get set to face the Alabama Crimson Tide after their November bye. That’s not a good situation to be in.
