833. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 5. player. Linebacker. Junior. Jamin Davis

6’4″ 234 pounds; Hometown: Ludowici, Ga.

Emerging as the Henry To’o To’o of the Kentucky Wildcats’ defense, Jamin Davis won’t make all the splash plays, but he’s the glue guy for a unit that can be very effective. As a result, Tennessee football will have to account for him on every play, regardless of whether or not it’s a run or a pass and regardless of which side of the field it goes to.

For the year, Davis leads the team with 23 tackles. he also has a sack, an interception and a pass deflection, so he literally does it all. Also, what stands out is that he didn’t pack all of his production in one game. While he did have 11 tackles and his pick against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, his sack came against the Auburn Tigers.

Davis and DeAndre Square are both the key inside linebackers, and Square has been effective too with 21 tackles, one and a half tackles for a loss and a pass deflection. We really could have put either player on this list. However, Davis has been slightly better with his interception, two more tackles and the fact that 14 of his tackles are solo while only eight of Square’s are.

Last year, defensive back Yusuf Corker led the team in tackles, but the inside linebackers are being a lot more productive this season so far. Davis only had 32 tackles in 2019, so he could match that total in this game. Simply put, he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with.
