The Florida Gators had a scheduled game against the LSU Tigers this past weekend that has now been postponed to Dec. 12. They were hoping to get back on track after a tough loss to the Texas A&M Aggies. At this point, though, Dan Mullen’s team has no reason to worry about anything.

These guys suffered a close loss in a game that could have gone either way the last time they took the field. However, that’s one loss to an SEC West team, and their main challenger in the SEC East also lost over the weekend to a west team. As a result, UF was simply able to use this as a bye week to correct some mistakes.

Kyle Trask should still be a Heisman candidate, and Dan Mullen’s offense looks like it could beat anybody. The only question is if the defense can get its act together. It hasn’t looked that good against any team this year, although the Aggies and Ole Miss Rebels both have great offensive coaches and pretty good quarterbacks.

If Florida was able to work on improving its defense during this off-week, it will look once again like a national title contender once it returns to the field. Well, they have plenty of time to work on improving that unit as well, as they have another scheduled bye this week.

As a result, the next time they take the field is Halloween, when they will face the Missouri Tigers. That should get them to 3-1. They have December showdowns with LSU and Tennessee football, and most of November is a sleeper with the Arkansas Razorbacks, Vanderbilt Commodores and Kentucky Wildcats. But they have one season-defining showdown then against the next team.
