Lost to Alabama Crimson Tide 41-24

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs still can’t get over the hump. A week after dominating Tennessee football 44-21, UGA looked like a team that struggles for a bit in the first half but then turns it on in the second half. Well, they dominated the Auburn Tigers all game, to be fair. The idea is that they play great in the second half when they have to.

That didn’t happen on Saturday against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Georgia built a 17-10 lead and was up 24-20 heading into the second half. Then Alabama dominated, shutting down UGA’s offense with Stetson Bennett and going off offensively, scoring three touchdown. They forced back to back interceptions between their three touchdowns.

After it was 41-24, Georgia got so rattled that its kicker, Jack Podlesny missed a field goal, and he seems like he has been automatic. The guy was nailing 55-yarders against the Vols with 10 yards to spare, and his miss was a 35-yarder. Simply put, everything unraveled for this team, as its defense allowed over 500 yards and over 400 through the air.

Nonetheless, these guys are still 3-1. Their only loss is to an SEC West team. As a result, they are still in control of their own destiny to accomplish everything they want to. One bad half, doesn’t end all that. They now get a bye to fix some mistakes before facing the Kentucky Wildcats and Florida Gators. Everything comes down to that Florida game.
