Lost to Texas A&M Aggies 28-14

We can apply circular logic here. The Vanderbilt Commodores are winless, and the LSU Tigers’ only win is over the Vanderbilt Commodores. After that, we go to two teams who have one win each, both over LSU, and that puts them among the bottom four in our SEC Power Rankings. Which one is below the other, though, is the question.

We’re putting Mike Leach’s Mississippi State Bulldogs here because they played and lost again on Saturday. These guys are now on a three game losing streak, and while every team they’ve lost to has two SEC wins or more, they have not looked good in the process. Leach and Jeremy Pruitt, Tennessee football’s top candidates by different athletic directors in 2017, both look bad now.

Of course, making Will Rogers the starting quarterback over K.J. Costello could change things going forward. He appeared to give MSU a spark in the second half, and his stats were certainly better. Taking that into account, perhaps the Bulldogs could shock another team not prepared for Rogers. This team at least has a bye week now to figure out the quarterback situation.

After that, though, the Bulldogs have to visit the Alabama Crimson Tide, so 1-4 is almost certain. Then there are a couple of winnable games against that horrible Vanderbilt team along with the Auburn Tigers, and 5-5 is still possible with the Ole Miss Rebels still on the slate along with the next team in these rankings.
