Tennessee football collapses in SEC Power Rankings after Week 7 of 2020
Did not play
Yes, the Missouri Tigers are the other team to only beat the LSU Tigers. Getting blown out by Tennessee football, however, is now a much worse look than any of the Mississippi State Bulldogs’ losses. At the same time, though, Mizzou’s other loss is to the Alabama Crimson Tide, and there’s no shame in that given how Nick Saban’s team looks at this moment.
The Tigers’ win over LSU is also more recent than MSU’s, and that favors them in our SEC Power Rankings. Missouri missed a chance to get 2-2 with its game against the Vanderbilt Commodores being postponed this past weekend. Taking that into account, it’s hard to say not playing helped them. They would have easily won if they played their game.
These guys look promising in Eliah Drinkwitz’s first year. Connor Bazelak clearly deserves to be the starting quarterback over Shawn Robinson, and Missouri still does have lots of weapons who can help him out. As a result, they appear to be in good shape, and another week off to work with Bazelak as the signal-caller can only do them more good.
It’s very possible these guys move up our SEC Power Rankings quickly. Up next for them is a home game against the newly resurgent Kentucky Wildcats. Should they pull off the upset, they’ll be crawling into the top half. A loss isn’t likely to hurt them too much at the moment. For now, though, they’re still in the bottom four.
