Lost to Arkansas Razorbacks 33-21

What do we make of this Ole Miss Rebels team? Former Tennessee football head coach Lane Kiffin had a huge win over the Kentucky Wildcats in their second game of the season. Then UK blows out the Vols while Ole Miss loses to the Arkansas Razorbacks, a team that lost to the Auburn Tigers, who just lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks, who lost to Rocky Top.

See how this gets confusing now? Well, to separate teams, we had to go by recency and record. Neither favors the Rebels. Sure, one of their two most recent losses are to the Alabama Crimson Tide, and they played hard in that game, but they’re still on a two-game losing streak. Although Arkansas is resurgent, it’s hard to justify them losing by double digits.

As a result, the Rebels, as the only team left without two wins, belong below all the two-win teams in our SEC Power Rankings. Of course, Kiffin’s offense can still move the ball, but six interceptions and seven turnovers overall in a game would doom anybody. That’s what they had with Matt Corral against Arkansas.

If they can cut down on the turnovers, they have a very winnable game against the Auburn Tigers at home coming up. Then they have a likely win against the Vanderbilt Commodores before going on their bye. After their bye they host the South Carolina Gamecocks. Looking at this, 4-3 is a real possibility before they face the Texas A&M Aggies on Nov. 21.
