Defeated Ole Miss Rebels 33-21

The resurgence of the Arkansas Razorbacks is not a fluke. Sam Pittman has this team playing hard with an opportunistic defense and an offense that is making the most out of what it has. When you have Feleipe Franks, a legitimate weapon in Rakeem Boyd and a mind like Kendal Briles, you have the tools needed to have some form of success.

Last week, the Hogs forced seven turnovers to beat Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels. Take away a missed call by the officials against the Auburn Tigers, and they are 3-1 right now with their only loss coming to the Georgia Bulldogs. Oh, they also led Georgia midway through the third quarter. Simply put, this team has immediately moved on from Chad Morris.

Although their win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs looks less impressive by the week, Arkansas’s performance has gotten progressively better as MSU’s has gotten progressively worse. That’s enough for us to put them close to the top half of our SEC Power Rankings. They’re middle of the pack but not in that top half just yet.

With a bye to bask in their momentum, they have to refocus and get ready for the Texas A&M Aggies on Oct. 31. Then they face Tennessee football and the Florida Gators before closing out against the LSU Tigers, Missouri Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide. UT, Mizzou and Bama are all winnable games to get Pittman’s first team to .500, which would be a huge accomplishment.
