Here are the key Tennessee football Volunteers to watch for against the Crimson Tide.

The unruly meltdown of Tennessee football against the Kentucky Wildcats has left an extremely bitter taste in the mouths of fans, but alas last week is over and behind us all. Now, as they do every third Saturday in October, the waters of the Tennessee River adjacent to Neyland Stadium are lapping against the banks a little faster.

Unfortunately for the Vols, an undefeated foe is approaching Rocky Top. A Crimson Tide of offensive poise and defensive wizardry, led by the COVID-free king of the SEC, Nick Saban, is about to swam Rocky Top.

After a massive statement 41-24 win over the Georgia Bulldogs last week, No. 2 ranked Alabama will travel to Knoxville looking to test their perfect 4-0 record against Tennessee football. They will also be looking to extend their winning streak over the Vols.

UT, on the other end, after beginning the season 2-0, is hoping to avoid losing its third straight game. A win on Saturday would give Jeremy Pruitt’s team a positive record and a massive morale boost heading into their bye week. Losing would give them their first three-game losing streak in one season ever since Pruitt arrived, although they did lose four straight from 2018 into 2019.

Historically, the record between the two rival universities is a lot closer than most would expect, with the Crimson Tide leading with 56 wins out of 101 meetings. Since Saban arrived at Tuscaloosa however, the Vols are yet to get the best of him, surrendering a horrid 0-13 tally to the Tide since 2007.

The Vols we told you to watch for last week against Kentucky accounted for 19 tackles, 61 total yards, and a touchdown. This week, if UT is looking to pull off the upset, they’ll need some of their best players to stand out. These are the five Vols to watch for when Tennessee football goes up against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
