Scouting Report. Junior. 5. player. 839. Pick Analysis. Defensive back. Trevon Flowers

5’11” 195 pounds; Hometown: Atlanta, Ga.

After missing part of his first two seasons on Rocky Top due to injuries, Trevon Flowers has been one of the brighter spots in a Tennessee football secondary that has struggled this season. In Week 2 against the Missouri Tigers, Flowers had a career-high 10 tackles, which he followed up with eight more against the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 3.

Flowers’ 25 tackles this season are already eight more than he logged last year in two fewer games. Though he’s yet to intercept a pass in 2020 Flowers has tacked on a pass defended in each of his last two games, both of which were in the end zone which is worth noting.

Along with the rest of UT’s secondary, Flowers will have his hands full on Saturday against Alabama’s aerial assault. As if Mac Jones throwing the ball wasn’t enough, the Crimson Tide have three receivers with over 300 yards through four weeks of play.

The Vols for comparison, don’t have one. Josh Palmer leads the Big Orange with 238 yards. Alabama’s John Metchie III (348), DeVonta Smith (483), and Jaylen Waddle (557) are all in the SEC’s top seven for receiving yards.

Listed as a strong safety on the Vols’ depth chart, Flowers could also be quintessential in stopping Alabama running back Najee Harris and the run. Harris currently leads the conference with 499 rushing yards. No matter where you see him lined up, whether that’s closer to the line of scrimmage or further back in coverage, expect Flowers’ name to be called a lot on Saturday.
