Tennessee: 25 Alabama: 0

This was a revenge game for Tennessee football. The Vols lost 18-6 to the Alabama Crimson Tide in 1930, and that game decided the Southern Conference and likely national champion, as Bama went 10-0 that year, and the game was UT’s only loss.

Heading into this matchup, both teams were 3-0 once again. Alabama was in its first year under head coach Frank Thomas. This time, however, the Vols won in the blowout. Gene McEver had three touchdowns, and a 13-game Alabama winning streak came to an end.

Kentucky: 6 Tennessee: 6 (Tie)

Robert Neyland finally beat the Vanderbilt Commodores and Kentucky Wildcats in the same season in 1930, only to have it ruined by a loss to Alabama. This year, after beating Alabama and Vanderbilt, the hope was that he could finally have a perfect season.

Once again, it didn’t happen. For the third time in four years, Kentucky tied UT 6-6. UK was clearly the inferior team at 4-2-1, but it appeared that Rocky Top was once again suffering a hangover from beating both Alabama and Vanderbilt.

Result of the season

After beating NYU, Neyland’s team once again finished the season 9-0-1. It would be the fourth time in five years a tie was the only blemish on this team’s record and he fourth straight year that the only blemish they had cost them the Southern Conference title. However, the Vols were Alabama’s only loss as well, as they went 6-0-1 on the year.
