Did not play

After not playing for two straight weekends, the one constant in the SEC is that the Vanderbilt Commodores remain the worst team in the conference. That’s a longstanding tradition that didn’t end with this odd season, and Derek Mason’s team will have to prove something on the field before we change out assessment of them.

This team remains the only winless team in the league, but it’s not the only team with three losses now. Two straight bye weeks has allowed another team to join them at being three games under .500, and we’ll get to that team in a bit. They aren’t too far above Vandy just yet, but it’s pretty clear-cut that Vandy belongs at the bottom of this list.

The best selling point for the Commodores at this point is playing the Texas A&M Aggies close in the season-opener. Since then, they lost back to back games 41-7, and both of the teams that beat them are in the middle of the pack or the bottom half of the SEC. Simply put, it’s not a pretty look in terms of their performance or their schedule.

Here’s the good news: They have a chance to play the other team that is three games under .500 this week in the Ole Miss Rebels. That’ll be a game to avoid last place in the league. In fact, they have multiple chances to move up this list, as after that game they play the next team in these power rankings.
