Lost to Auburn Tigers 35-28

Former Tennessee football head coach Lane Kiffin is making a splash with his offense as head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels. He’s also making a splash for more public reprimands from the SEC, most recently criticizing a missed call that did end up costing his team against the Auburn Tigers over the weekend. However, he has no room to talk.

While Auburn did appear to fumble a kickoff that Ole Miss should have recovered for a score, the Tigers had a return touchdown called back due to a ticky-tack penalty. Simply put, it goes both ways. As for Kiffin specifically, well, a lucky upset over the Kentucky Wildcats and a great offensive performance against the Alabama Crimson Tide is all that has people excited about him.

This guy is still 1-4 right now, and his team has major issues on defense. He also struggled with clock management down the stretch of that game against Auburn, and that’s something that can’t go unnoticed. With the game coming down to the wire, he left a timeout on the board at the end, one that could have been used when 15 seconds were run off the clock at one point.

Either way, Ole Miss is 1-4, and they have suffered two tough losses. Now they get to visit the Vanderbilt Commodores, a team they should beat and the only other team three games under .500 in this league. Given the inconsistencies of these guys, though, don’t be so sure on them pulling out the victory.
