Lost to Missouri Tigers 20-10

What do we make of the Kentucky Wildcats? Is this more about the inconsistency of Tennessee football and the Mississippi State Bulldogs? That seems to make the most sense. UK dominates MSU 24-2 and then shocks the world not just by beating the Vols at Neyland Stadium but completely controlling the game from the second quarter onward.

Then the Wildcats get set to face a Missouri Tigers team that lost to those same Vols two weeks earlier, and they lose by double-digits? Mark Stoops’ kids are hard to figure out. To be fair, they should be 3-2 right now, as that loss to the Ole Miss Rebels was a complete fluke, but this team is still hot and cold, like a few others in the league.

The clear formula to beat Kentucky, though, is to not turn the ball over. Unlike UT and MSU, Mizzou didn’t have one turnover. With Kentucky gaining only 145 yards of total offense, they couldn’t do much, and teams are going to start to figure that out. Conservative play beats these guys, as they can’t move the ball consistently for too long.

Up next, things will get more brutal for them as well, as they have to face a Georgia Bulldogs team coming off a bye. They’ll then get a bye themselves before a chance at a decent finish with the Vanderbilt Commodores and South Carolina Gamecocks still on the slate, but they also have to face the Florida Gators and Alabama Crimson Tide. Simply put, they have a rough path to .500.
