Lost to Georgia Bulldogs 14-3

We haven’t known what to make of the Kentucky Wildcats on a week to week basis. After blowing out Tennessee football and appearing to get back on track, they then suffered an ugly loss to the Missouri Tigers. However, that’s not much to be ashamed of, and neither was a 14-3 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs from this past weekend.

Mark Stoops’ team is 2-4 and should be 3-3. That loss to the Ole Miss Rebels was a fluke. These guys still know how to force turnovers, including against elite teams like UGA, and the offense won’t face a defense like the Dawgs’ most of the time this season. Keeping things ugly is what they want, and doing that against elite teams, even in a loss, is a sign of encouragement.

As a result, these guys only dropped one spot in our SEC Power Rankings. It wasn’t so much about what they did as it was about what other teams did. Kentucky, to be fair, has four losses and is on a two-game losing streak, so it’s got a lot of work to do if it wants to have a successful season.

A bye week right now comes at the perfect time for them to work on their offense. Then they get what should be a sure win against he Vanderbilt Commodores. The problem, though, is they then have the Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida Gators on the slate. If .500 is going to be on the table, they’ve got to find a way to win one of those games.
