Media sessions after the Tennessee Vols football bye week lead our Nov. 3 Volunteers news.

Happy Election Day everybody. While that story will dominate the headlines the rest of the week and maybe even the rest of the month, the Tennessee Vols still have plenty of news to make on their own.

Our morning update on Rocky Top leads with multiple press conferences on Monday on the heels of this past weekend’s open date for the football program. UT’s preparations for the Arkansas Razorbacks are in full swing, and these sessions address that.

We also have news of a kickoff time set for another football game on the schedule. Simply put, football runs the show. However, there is a soccer story worth mentioning toward the end. Let’s start with the media sessions.

Jeremy Pruitt addresses Arkansas – UTSports

Coming off the bye week, Tennessee Vols football head coach Jeremy Pruitt addressed the media Monday ahead of UT’s matchup with the Arkansas Razorbacks. He noted that freshman Len’Neth Whitehead will miss the remainder of the season. Here’s a bit of what he said about what his program has been working on ahead of this game.

"“For us, this open week was a great opportunity to go back to the basics. Just going back through the early days of install trying to catch some guys up, and it was a good opportunity to do that and move some guys around to possibly create some opportunities for guys who have worked hard in practice and really give them an opportunity.”"

Three UT players speak after bye – Austin Price, VolQuest

Senior offensive lineman Trey Smith, sophomore running back Eric Gray and sophomore running back Henry To’o To’o addressed the media Monday ahead of the Tennessee Vols football matchup with Arkansas. Gray addressed the potential for a turnaround. Here’s a bit of what he said.

"“I think there’s a lot we can look at from last season and see where we were at after the little change in our team last year. The same thing happened this year.”"

Smith discussed voting in this year’s election. Here’s a bit of what he said.

"“For me, I think it’s a great opportunity to basically do what we’re supposed to do. In this society, we’re supposed to play our role, vote, go out there, but given the opportunity tomorrow, we have the opportunity as a team and anyone who feels like they need to go out and vote, I mean that’s an amazing thing.”"

To’o To’o talked about improving his own play personally. Here’s a bit of what he said.

"“There’s little things that I need to fix, but I just try to motivate our guys. We know how we can be. We know our top tier, so I just try my best to be able to get our guys going.”"

Kickoff time set for Texas A&M – Dan Harralson, VolsWire.com

Saturday, Nov. 14 will mark the second time Tennessee football faces the Texas A&M Aggies since Texas A&M joined the SEC and the first time since 2016. It will be A&M’s first game ever at Neyland Stadium. More details on that game have now been revealed.

"On Monday, the Southeastern Conference announced Week 8 kickoff times. The Aggies and Vols will kick off at 3:30 p.m. EST with ESPN televising the matchup."

Soccer standout earns SEC honors – SECSports

After a huge 2-1 victory over the Florida Gators this past weekend, the Tennessee Lady Vols soccer program is earning some recognition. A redshirt freshman from UT was named SEC Freshman of the Week for her play in that game.

"Tennessee forward Jaida Thomas, a freshman from Irving, Texas, scored the eventual match-winner on a header from a Claudia Dipasupil corner kick in the 70th minute at Florida. She is the outright SEC leader with three game-winning goals this fall, ranking third in the NCAA in that category."
