Scouting Report. Defensive back. Redshirt freshman. player. Pick Analysis. Hudson Clark. 3. 844

We’re back to elite defensive backs who have been a huge part of the Arkansas Razorbacks’ two wins this year. Greg Brooks Jr. deserves credit for the versatility he provides in the secondary at nickel. However, a lockdown cornerback stands out even more, and Hudson Clark fits that profile perfectly for Barry Odom’s defensive schemes.

Odom’s zone defense relies on a guy like Clark who can cover large swaths of the field, and he has done that admirably. PFF College had given him the highest coverage grade of any defensive back in the SEC before last weekend’s matchup with the Texas A&M Aggies at 82.9, and last week was a bit of a fluke as he went up against one of the top pass offenses in the nation.

Beyond the grade itself, though, Clark is an elite playmaker. He has three interceptions on the year and one pass deflection. Clark joins safety Jalen Catalon, who almost made this list with a pick-six, a forced and recovered fumble and two pass deflections on the season, as two first-year starters who are making a huge impact in the secondary.

Between them, though, Clark appears to be the biggest star, allowing the other guys on the defense to be the major playmakers. As a result, once again, Jarrett Guarantano has to be careful and can’t make the mistakes he’s been making over the past three games. That would be devastating for Tennessee football.
