Lost to Arkansas Razorbacks 24-13

Yes, the wheels are coming off the Tennessee football program. After a 2-0 start and in the midst of the longest winning streak among Power Five teams earlier this year, it’s clear that everything Jeremy Pruitt was building into his third year was a complete mirage. The Vols really did just cash in on an easy slate through that eight-game winning streak from last year into this year.

Last weekend, these guys blew a 13-0 halftime lead to the Arkansas Razorbacks to suffer another second-half collapse, allowing the Hogs to score 24 straight in the third quarter. Yes, there were a couple of injuries and missed calls. However, there was no excuse for Pruitt to lose to first-year head coach Sam Pittman, who was taking over a much bigger mess.

Now, the Vanderbilt Commodores are the only likely win left for the Vols, and this team’s senior quarterback, Jarrett Guarantano, is day to day after suffering a head injury last week. Quarterback play has been a major issue for this team all year along with the secondary. Failing to fix both things off a bye week was inexcusable.

Things are about to get worse as well. Up next for the Vols is a home game against the No. 5 ranked Texas A&M Aggies, and then they face the No. 24 ranked Auburn Tigers on the road. Also, the No. 6 ranked Florida Gators are still on the slate. Simply put, three ranked teams are their final four opponents, meaning 3-7 or even 2-8 is on the table or even.
