Enai White of Philadelphia, Pa. has the Tennessee football Volunteers in his top 13.

They may be struggling on the field, but Tennessee football continues to make moves on the recruiting trail, and not just in the South. Jeremy Pruitt now has the Vols trending for another 2022 Mid-Atlantic prospect.

Pennsylvania edge rusher Enai White, who is listed as a four-star across all major recruiting services but a five-star on 247Sports Composite, announced the Vols as one of his top 13 schools Monday night. White, listed as a defensive end on 247Sports and ESPN and an outside linebacker on Rivals, stands between 6’4″ and 6’5″ and 225 and 230 pounds.

In addition to Tennessee football, the Penn State Nittany Lions, Ohio State Buckeyes, Clemson Tigers, LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Oklahoma Sooners, Texas Longhorns, USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, Miami Hurricanes and Ole Miss Rebels all made White’s cut. He announced the schools on Twitter.

Coming out of Philadelphia, Pa., White attends the same school current UT offensive lineman Jahmir Johnson did: Imhotep Institute Charter School. Defensive back Romello Edwards is another player on the Vols’ roster from Philly.

Depth among edge rushers has been a focus of Pruitt’s ever since he arrived on Rocky Top, and while he did build some with his 2020 recruiting class, he clearly has more work to do. Heck, he’s got more work to do on that front with his 2021 recruiting class.

So far, only one player is committed in the Vols’ 2022 class, and he also just happens to be a defensive end in Jimmy Scott. Also, he’s from the Northeast region as well, coming out of Athol Springs, N.Y., where UT tight ends coach Joe Osovet is familiar with recruiting.

There are currently no favorites to land White on the Rivals Future Cast or the 247Sports Crystal Ball. Although Penn State is the favorite on the Rivals Fan Future Cast, that’s unscientific, and it’s only by a plurality. As a result, Tennessee football could definitely be in play.
