Newcomers

Keyen Green; Senior; 6’1″; Philadelphia, Pa.

With the departure of Lou Brown, Kellie Harper needed immediate scoring at the four. Graduate transfer Keyen Green averaged double-figures all three years with the Liberty Flames, and she’s averaging over 13 points and seven rebounds for her career. Last year, she averaged 13.9 points per game and seven and a half rabounds.

The graduate of Phil-Mont Christian Academy in Pennsylvania mainly plays in the post, so she doesn’t stretch the court like Lou Brown did, but she knows how to use her length. She could immediately step into a starting role for the Tennessee Lady Vols at the four or the five, depending on how Harper wants to utilize the post.

Marta Suárez; Freshman; 6’2″; Oviedo, Spain

When it comes to stretching the floor and replacing Lou Brown, Harper went overseas for a sharpshooter once again. This time, she got a commitment from Marta Suárez out of the Joaquim Blume Institute in Spain. Suárez averaged 12.7 points and over five and a half rebounds, but her ability to shoot from the outside is her value as an inside-out forward.

From the three-point line last year, Suárez shot 34.6 percent. She was 73.3 percent from the free throw line, so she immediately brings the best touch of any player in the frontcourt. There’s a chance Harper runs her at the three behind Rennia Davis, but she’s the perfect player to take on the point forward role that Brown held last year.
