Amidst the pandemic, the Tennessee Lady Vols slate is out. Here’s who the Volunteers will face.

Details have finally come out about the schedule for the 2020-2021 Tennessee Lady Vols. On Friday afternoon, UTSports released the 24-game slate, which includes eight non-conference games and 16 conference games.

The season is set to tip off on Friday, Nov. 27 against the Florida A&M Rattlers. UT will then face the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers the next day, on Nov. 28. Those are the only two games they will play in November.

Notable December games for the Tennessee Lady Vols include a trip to the West Virginia Mountaineers on Dec. 6 in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge and a visit to the Texas Longhorns on Dec. 13. Their only other conference game will be at home against the UConn Huskies, ranked No. 3 in this year’s preseason AP Poll, on Jan. 24.

Conference play for this team begins on Dec. 31 in a difficult road matchup against the Texas A&M Aggies. SEC teams Kellie Harper’s program will face twice include the Kentucky Wildcats, Georgia Bulldogs and Vanderbilt Commodores.

Given the fact that in the AP Poll the South Carolina Gamecocks are No. 1, the Mississippi State Bulldogs are No. 6, Kentucky is No. 11, Texas A&M is No. 13 and the Arkansas Razorbacks are No. 14, UT has six conference games against opponents in the preseason AP top 25. UConn makes for seven such opponents on the year.

Texas, to be fair, was one spot out of the rankings but still receiving votes, making for eight potential quality opponents this year. After going 21-10 last year but 1-10 against top 50 RPI opponents while running the table against everybody else, Harper’s team will now be looking to score a few more big wins.

Since the Tennessee Lady Vols are also receiving votes in the top 25, there is tepid optimism behind them as a program too. However, they now have to be able to prove it, and while the schedule could have been tougher, it will give them plenty of chances to do so.
