Did not play

Coming off a loss to the Florida Gators, the Georgia Bulldogs really needed last weekend’s matchup with the Missouri Tigers to get back on track. Kirby Smart was supposed to have his best team this year, and they have now been blown out by Florida and the Alabama Crimson Tide, the two most important games of the year for them. That Tennessee football win seems decades ago.

By not playing, though, Georgia remains fourth in our SEC Power Rankings. They’ve got some major issues to deal with at quarterback, and honestly, the defense seems to have major issues too against elite quarterbacks. The worst news for them is they’ll likely be available to make up that Mizzou game on Dec. 19 since the SEC East seems out of reach.

However, they can’t quit on it yet. Up next for them are the Mississippi State Bulldogs, South Carolina Gamecocks and Vanderbilt Commodores. If they played the Tigers, it would come after all of that and on the heels of a Dec. 12 bye.

They should easily win all three before then, and if Florida, by some outside chance, manages to lose two games, they’ll be right back in the race, which will really complicate trying to make up that Mizzou game. Simply put, they still have a chance.
