Tennessee football: Not playing boosts Vols in Week 11 SEC Power Rankings
Did not play
Again, movement by other teams forced us to drop the LSU Tigers in our SEC Power Rankings despite them not playing. Ed Orgeron’s team last took the field against the Auburn Tigers and lost 48-11. After a bye, they were supposed to prove themselves against the Alabama Crimson Tide, although they may have saved themselves a ton of embarrassment in the process.
The fact of the matter is the Tigers have lots of issues on offense when it comes to avoiding mistakes, and their defense has been a disaster under Bo Pelini. All of these surprise postponements are likely keeping them out of rhythm as well, and the path to finishing the season with a winning record looks to be very difficult.
Up next for this team is a trip to the Arkansas Razorbacks. While that’s winnable, the Texas A&M Aggies are next. They then host the Ole Miss Rebels before facing the Florida Gators. At best, it looks like 4-5 is on the table. It’ll be hard to see this team making up its game against Alabama, as the Tide will almost certainly play in the SEC Title game on Dec. 19. That may be a break, though.
