Scouting Report. Wide receiver. 839. Pick Analysis. Senior. Josh Palmer. 2. player

6’2″ 210 pounds; Hometown: Brampton, Ontario (Canada)

The No. 2 spot on this list could belong to any one of UT’s receivers, but we’ll give Josh Palmer the nod simply because he’s been the best this season. Week after week, Palmer is proving himself not only an asset to Tennessee football but as a valuable NFL propsect.

Given the recent success of former Vols wide receiver Marquez Callaway, don’t be surprised to find out many scouts have had their eye on Palmer this season knowing Tee Martin’s track record of developing next-level talent even over a short period of time. Callaway signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent,

Palmer caught just two passes for 28 yards at the Arkansas Razorbacks but showed off his ball-skills along the sideline in an acrobatic toe-tap that Vol fans have seen a ton of over the last four years. Given UT’s disastrous play-calling in the second half of that loss, you’d hope Rocky Top’s playbook will look a tad different this weekend.

That would presumably emphasize getting the team’s best receiver involved more. The good news for Palmer and UT’s wideouts is that struggling Auburn pass defense we mentioned on the previous slide. Now, that’s not a considerable amount of production, but it’s more than what Arkansas gives up, and it’s well over the 107 passing yards UT compiled against the Hogs.

Again, the Vols’ wide receivers have been stout and deserve to get more looks this weekend. Palmer has proven himself as the No. 1 guy in the group, so everybody should hope that Jim Chaney dials a few plays his way on Saturday.
