Newcomers

E.J. Anosike; 6’7: 245 pounds; Senior; East Orange, N.J.

By far the standout newcomer for Tennessee basketball, E.J. Anosike is a graduate transfer from the Sacred Heart Pioneers. The brother of former Lady Vol Nicky Anosike and a product of Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey, he averaged 15.7 points and 11.6 rebounds last year.

Given his frame, he could be Barnes’ new Grant Williams, and he has the experience to do it. In 2018-2019, he shot 35.8 percent from three, and he has never shot under 70 percent from the free throw line, so he has a nice touch as well. That may get better.

Corey Walker Jr.; 6’8″ 219 pounds; Freshman; Hastings, Fla.

While Keon Johnson and Jaden Springer were the five-stars in this recruiting class, Corey Walker Jr. can’t be forgotten. A product of Bishop Snyder High School in Florida and then Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia, he was a four-star recruit, and he brings a solid amount of athleticism. Don’t be surprised if he works his way into a backup role.

Cole Morris; 6’9″ 192 pounds; Freshman; Marietta, Ga.

Joining Brock Jancek, Cole Morris wil be another walk-on for the Vols. Coming out of George Walton Comprehensive High School in Georgia, he almost certainly won’t play much this year, and he may even take a redshirt.
