Tennessee football: Photo gallery from Vols’ 30-17 loss at Auburn
Here are pictures from the Tennessee football Volunteers’ loss at the Tigers.
Things continue to get worse and worse for Tennessee football in Jeremy Pruitt’s third year. The Vols’ 30-17 loss at the Auburn Tigers Saturday night was their fifth straight loss by double digits and their second straight loss after a two-score lead in the first half.
Although there were some moments throughout the game that UT fans had fun watching, the issues that have plagued the team all year continued to plague them. Untimely mistakes by the quarterback and blown coverages in the secondary are happening on a weekly basis.
Now, this team is 2-5, meaning the best they can do in the regular season is .500, and that seems highly unlikely. It was an interesting day at Jordan-Hare Stadium in general, though. Before looking ahead to the state of the Vols’ let’s look at some of the photos from Tennessee football’s loss.
Obviously, despite the issues, plenty of names stood out for Tennessee football. Eric Gray had a great performance, the interior part of the offensive line in general did its job, the pass rush showed up, and the team did move the ball. There were just too many key moments in which Pruitt’s team came up short.
Now, with all of these issues, including another quarterback controversy and Pruitt’s seat warmer than ever, the Vols have the Vanderbilt Commodores up next. Then they have two top 10 opponents, the Florida Gators and the Texas A&M Aggies. Both of them might be in the top five by the time they face the Vols as well.
As a result, every reasonable person has Tennessee football finishing the year 3-7 at best, and it’s more likely they finish 2-8 rather than 4-6 or 5-5. Simply put, this team is in trouble, and a turnaround similar to what happened last year seems impossible. What that means for the future remains to be seen.
