Tennessee football doesn’t move in Week 12 SEC Power Rankings
Defeated Tennessee Volunteers 30-17
Coming off two bye weeks, the Auburn Tigers had some rust as they faced Tennessee football and fell behind 10-0. However, while they looked a bit ugly in that game, they found a way to win under Gus Malzahn and made the plays they needed to make throughout the game.
If you take away that loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks, an inexplicable upset loss, this team is 6-1 and another top 10 team. While it was their 48-point performance against the LSU Tigers two weeks ago that won them the game, it was taking advantage of mistakes on Saturday with a pick-six and a touchdown pass on a blown coverage.
Special teams for Auburn is a big deal as well, as Anders Carlson made all three field goals, including a 50-yarder, on Saturday. In general, this team continues to find an edge, and Chad Morris’ offense is doing what it needs to do with Bo Nix running the offense.
Now, though, the Tigers have an outside shot at the West. They still have the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Texas A&M Aggies. If they somehow upset both teams, then they close things out against the Mississippi State Bulldogs and just need Alabama to lose somewhere.
