Tennessee football doesn’t move in Week 12 SEC Power Rankings
Lost to Auburn Tigers 30-17
As we said in the opening slide, Tennessee football is reeling more than anybody else on this list. They just lost their fifth straight game, and it was their second straight loss with a lead by two scores in the first half. Calls to fire Jeremy Pruitt are reaching a fever pitch.
The Vols led Auburn 10-0 in the first half but then had a blown coverage in the second quarter and a pick-six in the red zone in the third quarter. After a missed 37-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, they allowed a long touchdown drive to fall behind 27-10.
This is no different from the Arkansas Razorbacks game in which they led 13-0 at halftime only to fall behind 24-13. Key mistakes, poor secondary play, awful play-calling by Jim Chaney and massive issues at quarterback all continue to plague this team, which is why they have gone from 2-0 to 2-5 and can’t do any better than .500 in the regular season.
Reaching that will be tough, though. The Vols’ best chance at a win left was this week as they visit the Vanderbilt Commodores. However, that has now been postponed, so they will have to face the Florida Gators and Texas A&M Aggies on Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 respectively. As a result, 2-7 looks likely, so they belong down here in these rankings.
