Tennessee football doesn’t move in Week 12 SEC Power Rankings
Lost to Georgia Bulldogs 31-24
Hey, look at that. The Mississippi State Bulldogs put together their best performance since their season-opening win over the LSU Tigers. This is typical of Mike Leach, who needs a couple of years for his offense to get going and early on just randomly has solid performances.
The only problem for Leach is that this year, one of those performances came against one of the most elite teams in the league. We’re not going to read too much into this, as MSU has to put multiple games like this together before we move them up our SEC Power Rankings.
Until then, they are still in the bottom tier. However, there were signs of encouragement. Will Rogers didn’t throw any interceptions and, as a freshman, certainly looks like the quarterback of the future for this team. Can he maintain his play, though?
We’ll know this week. Mississippi State has its Egg Bowl showdown with the Ole Miss Rebels, the first of the Leach-Lane Kiffin rivalry. Then it hosts the Missouri Tigers, so four wins is definitely possible. If the team that shows up Saturday stays consistent, they could potentially upset the Auburn Tigers as well in the season finale.
