Freshman. Harrison Bailey. 3. player. Scouting Report. Quarterback. 839. Pick Analysis

6’5″ 225 pounds; Hometown: Marrietta, Ga.

Given his performance against the Auburn Tigers and the current state of Tennessee football’s quarterback room, Harrison Bailey is a name to watch heading into this week. The opportunity is prime for the freshman to get his first start.

We’ve already gone over how Jarrett Guarantano’s play doesn’t bode well against the Gators, but Bailey’s seven completions for 86 yards against the Auburn Tigers showed his talent and some signs of improvement since his previous outings. When Bailey sees the field on Saturday, he’ll face a Florida Gators secondary that concedes 260 passing yards per game.

The skill position players on UT’s offense have actually been quite good this season, as the only missing piece has been the quarterback to give them the ball. There’s no need to put Bailey outside of his comfort zone in Week 14.

If he can focus on getting Eric Gray looks out of the backfield, and for Josh Palmer streaking down the sideline, Bailey should be able to put a confidence-boosting game under the belt of his young career. Rocky Top’s quarterback situation has been anything but what fans hoped for entering this season. Expect Bailey to show everyone what they’ve been missing when he takes the field.
