Tennessee football unchanged in Week 13 SEC Power Rankings
Lost to Alabama Crimson Tide 42-13
Well, the Auburn Tigers’ outside shot at winning the SEC West crashed and burned with a blowout loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. There’s nothing to be ashamed of, though. Everybody is getting blown out by Alabama right now, and Gus Malzahn’s team is no different. When not outmatched, they continue to find ways to win.
As a result, there’s no reason for us to drop the Tigers at all in our SEC Power Rankings. Mizzou may have a slight case, especially since that loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks is still on Auburn’s resume, but it’s not a legitimate one. Auburn is one step away from one of the top two tier teams in the league, and it’s all due to that loss.
Chad Morris’ offense can still thrive with Bo Nix at quarterback as long as they aren’t facing Alabama. There is a bit of a concern, though, as they were also outplayed by Tennessee football on everything but the scoreboard. Could that mean something going forward?
Well, we’ll find out. Up next for these guys is a chance to play spoiler with the Texas A&M Aggies coming to town and still vying for a College Football Playoff spot. They then close things out on the road against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. That makes 6-4 likely, but 7-3 with a huge upset would be a strong finish.
