Tennessee football unchanged in Week 13 SEC Power Rankings
Lost to Ole Miss Rebels 31-24
It hasn’t been the season Mississippi State Bulldogs fans hoped for with Mike Leach taking over, and that season-opening win over the LSU Tigers was clearly a tease. But as history shows, Leach’s offenses take a few years to really get going. He had two losing seasons his first three years with the Washington State Cougars.
What the focus needed to be on was improvement, and we’re finally seeing that from this team. There’s certainly more improvement than what Tennessee football is showing. The Bulldogs have lost back to back games 31-24, to the Georgia Bulldogs and Ole Miss Rebels. While losing the Egg Bowl hurts, the team is finally being competitive again.
Before losing those two games, they did end a four-game losing streak by beating the Vanderbilt Commodores as well. Simply put, things are looking much better than they did in the early part of the season right after the LSU loss.
Can that translate into a win? Well, they have another bye this week after their matchup with the Missouri Tigers was rescheduled. That will likely happen on Dec. 19 and is a possible win. On Dec. 12, they face the Auburn Tigers, so they have a chance to pull off another shocker before the year comes to an end.
