Tennessee football unchanged in Week 13 SEC Power Rankings

Lost to Texas A&M Aggies 20-7

At least Ed Orgeron’s team was competitive. However, they can’t string together any streak. The LSU Tigers have alternated wins and losses all year, and the only thing keeping them this high in our SEC Power Rankings is the continuation of the head to head logic. They did score a win over the Arkansas Razorbacks, and that has to count for something.

Anyway, LSU has been hampered with multiple postponements and unscheduled byes on a level that no other team in the league has dealt with, so it has somewhat kept them out of rhythm. Still, that’s no excuse for the season-opening loss they suffered to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Outside of Arkansas, their only other wins are over the South Carolina Gamecocks and Vanderbilt Commodores.  Both are in the bottom tier of the league, and everybody who has gotten the shot has pulled off a win over Vandy. At 3-4, these guys have a brutal finish, one that rivals Tennessee football’s December slate.

Up next is their make-up game with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Then they have their make-up game with the Florida Gators. That’s two likely losses there to fall to 3-6, and then they might make up their game with the Ole Miss Rebels on Dec. 19 for a chance to finish 4-6. Could they play spoiler the next two weeks, though? That may salvage the season.
