The Tennessee Vols preparing for the Gators leads our Dec. 1 Volunteers news.

We’re now in the final month of one of the craziest years on record, and the Tennessee Vols still have lots of football to play. With a brutal slate against back to back top 10 teams coming up, things could get even more disastrous for this 2-5 team that’s on a five-game losing streak.

Our morning update on Rocky Top leads with coverage of that football program. The weekly media session that took place Monday brought some interesting news as UT tries to return from its second unscheduled bye in three weeks and its third bye in five weeks.

Beyond football, though, we have news in multiple women’s sports to bring you. That includes a women’s basketball game scheduled for tonight and a signing class in women’s soccer. We’ll bring all of that to you hear, starting with the Tennessee Vols football presser.

With Saturday’s game against the Florida Gators scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS, Tennessee Vols football head coach Jeremy Pruitt held his weekly media session Monday. Pruitt said two players have tested positive for COVID since their loss to the Auburn Tigers and that there are about 16 contract tracing absences right now. Here’s a bit of what else he said.

"“I know we’re excited to be back. We got our guys back in here on Saturday, and we started going over some things, getting the prep for Florida, just continuing there.”"

Coming off an 87-47 season-opening win over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Saturday, the Tennessee Lady Vols take the court again Tuesday night. Kellie Harper’s team will face the ETSU Bucs, who are also 1-0, at Thompson-Boling Arena. The game is set to tip off at 7:02 p.m. ET and will be streamed on SEC Network+.

"The last meeting between the two schools came on Nov. 5, 2019. Tennessee was victorious, 72-68, opening the Kellie Harper head coaching era in front of a crowd of 5,881 at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tennessee."

Brian Pensky announces soccer signing class – UTSports

Seven field players and one goalkeeper make up the Tennessee Lady Vols soccer program’s 2021 recruiting class. Head coach Brian Pensky has announced the addition of the signees, two of whom will be early enrollees in January.

"Tennessee’s 2021 class was recently tabbed top-20 in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com, ranking 17th overall and second among programs from the Southeastern Conference. The class includes four midfielders that are currently rated inside the IMG Academy Top-150 club player rankings, which ties with North Carolina for most in the country."
