player. 839. Running back. Eric Gray. 4. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Sophomore

12 carries, 47 yards; 7 catches, 46 yards; 1 TD

In terms of raw production, Eric Gray could be higher on the list. If we didn’t factor in the fact that many stats were in garbage time, though, Ty Chandler would actually be the one on this list instead of Gray.

Chandler had 12 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown, leading the team in rushing, and he also had a reception for 15 yards. However, his touchdown and the vast majority of his yards came on the final two drives for Tennessee football.

Gray, meanwhile, led the team in overall yards. He had 12 carries for 47 yards and another seven receptions for 46 yards, including a touchdown reception. Taking a look at those numbers on the surface, it doesn’t even seem close.

However, Gray missed multiple key blocks in pass protection, a big reason the Vols allowed so many sacks on the day. His failure to pick up blitzes was exposed in a bad way, and it’s a reason he’s not higher on this list.

Even with that, though, he did have the touchdown to put UT up 7-3 early, and he was the most productive player on the team’s offense. As a result, he has to get a shoutout once again for the way he played.
