The Suwanee, Ga. offensive lineman will join the Tennessee football Volunteers.

Finally, Jeremy Pruitt and Tennessee football got a long overdue win. The Vols got their first commitment in over a month while in the midst of a six-game losing streak and a string of decommitments, including one earlier that morning.

Less than six hours after Darrell Jackson became the third defensive player from Florida to decommit from UT’s 2021 class in less than two weeks, Amari McNeill became the fourth offensive lineman to commit to the Vols’ 2021 class. He is the fifth Georgia prospect to commit.

A three-star on Rivals and 247Sports, McNeill hails from Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Ga. and stands at 6’4″ 280 pounds. He announced his commitment to Tennessee football Monday afternoon on Twitter.

McNeill’s commitment puts the Vols’ class back up to 25 players. He is likely to play offensive tackle, where he is listed across all recruiting services. Joining him at offensive line in this class are Colby Smith of North Carolina, J’Marion Gooch of Seymour, Tenn. and William Griffin-Parker of Nashville. Like McNeill, all of these players are across the board three-stars.

This hasn’t been the same elite recruiting haul Pruitt has enjoyed previous years at offensive line, but he continues to do a solid job of building up the trenches. Whatever his faults are on the field, he’s not leaving the cupboard bare. McNeill, who plays both offensive and defensive tackle n high school, could definitely play a role in that. Here is a look at his highlight reel.

As you can see, McNeill is a great blocker in open space, making him a valuable linemen on screens and toss plays. He could stand to get bigger and more physical on running plays up the middle, but he already has very solid aspects of his game.

With Trey Smith and Brandon Kennedy as seniors on the line, there could be some openings for playing time in the near future too. Given what has happened to Tennessee football’s class recently, this was a much-needed pick up.
