The Ole Miss Rebels’ postponement means the Tennessee football Volunteers may swap the Vandy Commodores and Aggies.

Another postponement could potentially affect Tennessee football, and if it does, it means the Vols likely have a seventh straight loss coming up on their schedule. That’s if this effect on UT does actually happen.

According to the SEC, this weekend’s game between the Ole Miss Rebels and the Texas A&M Aggies has now been postponed due to a COVID outbreak within the Ole Miss program. That means that to make this game up, A&M could now face the Vols this Saturday.

At the time of the cancelation, Tennessee football was scheduled to face the Vanderbilt Commodores this Saturday. There’s a chance that those games flip, though, and the Vols face Vandy on Dec. 19 so Ole Miss and A&M could make up that game, but that would depend on how other things play out.

That will make things more complicated, as Vandy is scheduled to make up a game with the Georgia Bulldogs on Dec. 19, but those two could face off Dec. 12. Georgia, to be fair, is scheduled to face the Missouri Tigers this Saturday, but that game could move to Dec. 19 as well.

Of course, this will throw lots of things for a loop, as the Mississippi State Bulldogs would then have to move up their game with Mizzou to this week, and then MSU and the Auburn Tigers would have their game postponed until Dec. 19.

With the SEC Championship game already set, it’s possible to move all those teams around, but this is what Ole Miss’ outbreak did. It could end up affecting the scheduling of six teams and the moving around of five games.

Already on a six-game losing streak, though, Tennessee football would likely not be too thrilled about facing the No. 5 ranked Aggies on Saturday. This Vanderbilt game would then keep getting postponed, delaying their last real chance at a likely win. Obviously, the Vols desperately need that game if they want anymore wins.
