Tennessee football still in bottom tier of Week 14 SEC Power Rankings
Did not play
An unscheduled postponement seemed to come at the worst time, as the Georgia Bulldogs’ offense was finally finding itself. However, to be fair, that was against the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the South Carolina Gamecocks, so it wasn’t too impressive.
Still, this team is clearly in the No. 4 spot of our SEC Power Rankings. Nothing has changed. These guys have two losses, to the Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida Gators, and those two teams will play for the SEC Championship. Georgia is in a tier by itself, below the top two tiers but above the Auburn Tigers and Missouri Tigers tiers.
UGA is the program that started the slide for Tennessee football with an opportunistic second-half defense, and that was the nature of this team. They didn’t do what they wanted, but we have to be fair and say this was a weird year.
A top five finish is still possible. Up next for these guys is a trip to the Missouri Tigers, and that could be an intriguing matchup. Then they have to face the Vanderbilt Commodores, though, and that’s a certain victory. As a result, 8-2 is likely, but 7-3 is the worst-case scenario for this team.
