Tennessee football still in bottom tier of Week 14 SEC Power Rankings
Lost to Missouri Tigers 50-48
What a tough loss for the Arkansas Razorbacks! Given their brutal schedule, they needed to beat their beatable opponents, and the Missouri Tigers were one of those teams. Sam Pittman and Kendal Briles, with K.J. Jefferson at quarterback, helped put on a show, though, and proved that these guys belong.
Despite clinching a losing record, this team earned its way into the middle of the pack of our SEC Power Rankings. He won’t earn it given his record, but Pittman should be coach of the year. He inherited the biggest mess of any coach in the nation and has kept the Hogs competitive.
Going for two to beat Mizzou and converting last Saturday was a gutsy move and should make fans love Pittman more. Yes, Barry Odom’s defense came apart on that final drive, as they did all game, to allow the game-winning field goal, but they fought their guts out.
Now, as they play for pride, the Hogs have a sure loss coming next. They have to face the Alabama Crimson Tide. However, for the year, they beat the Ole Miss Rebels, Mississippi State Bulldogs and Tennessee football. This is a program on the rise given what we saw this year.
