Lost to Alabama Crimson Tide 55-17

The drop-off from last year’s national championship team continues. It’s one thing for other programs to get blown out by the Alabama Crimson Tide when Nick Saban has one of his best teams ever. Ed Orgeron and the LSU Tigers, though, need to be able to remain competitive with that program given the talent they can bring in.

Alabama went all out for revenge, and they embarrassed LSU in that one. Honestly, the Tigers have been right smack in the middle of our SEC Power Rankings all year. Their only inconsistency was that season-opening loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, a bottom-tier team.

Outside of that, though, LSU lost to Alabama, the Texas A&M Aggies and the Auburn Tigers. In a toss-up between two similar-tiered teams, they lost a close one to the Missouri Tigers. But they beat the South Carolina Gamecocks, Vanderbilt Commodores and Arkansas Razorbacks.

An all but certain losing record is in the works, though, as up next for them is a game against the Florida Gators, fresh off their win over Tennessee football. That will likely clinch LSU six losses. To finish respectably, then, they will have to make sure they beat the Ole Miss Rebels, who will face them hoping for a winning record. That game could be tough too.
