Stock down

Defensive line

Although the Vols did a great job stopping the run, it was no thanks to the defensive line. That unit got no push up front all game, and it actually had an impact on the mistakes the inside linebackers made when it came to pass defense. They had to focus on other things.

Speaking of pass defense, the unit got no pass rush either. Kyle Trask had all day to throw the ball. Jeremy Pruitt getting rid of Jimmy Brumbaugh midseason did nothing for this unit, and it’s only gotten worse over time.

Jarrett Guarantano

You could say the stock is up for Harrison Bailey and J.T. Shrout. However, Bailey missed too many throws against the Florida Gators, and Shrout did what he did in garbage time. As a result, while they are in a good position competing for the Tennessee football starting quarterback slot, this stock report is how you play. Neither is up on that front.

On the other hand, Jarrett Guarantano is still down. After a roller coaster career, the senior may finally have lost his starting job for good. He didn’t play last Saturday due to not practicing for two weeks, but Jeremy Pruitt then confirmed Monday they were going forward with Bailey and Shrout. As a result, Guarantano is likely to not start again.
