Tennessee football: Photo gallery from Vols’ 42-17 win at Vanderbilt
Here are photos from the Tennessee football Volunteers’ win at the Vandy Commodores.
Finally, after six straight losses and no wins in over two months, Tennessee football can celebrate a victory. Okay, it’s not much to brag about, as the Vanderbilt Commodores are in worse shape than any winless school in SEC history. Still, the Vols were able to come away with a comfortable 42-17 dominating win.
There was promise from multiple quarterbacks in J.T. Shrout and Harrison Bailey, and history was able to be made at UT’s expense. Vanderbilt kicker Sarah Fuller became the first woman to ever make an extra point in a Power Five game, two weeks after she was the first woman to ever kick in a Power Five game.
Simply put, there were plenty of things to remember about this outing. Could it be something for Jeremy Pruitt to build toward the future? We don’t know yet, but this game alone provided lots of sparks. As a result, they are worth going back and looking at. Here is a photo gallery from Tennessee football’s second straight win in this in-state rivalry.
Obviously, with Vandy falling to 0-9 on the year, Tennessee football doesn’t have too much to celebrate. The Vols still now have just moved to 3-6 on the year, and they are still assured to have a losing record by the end of the season, regardless of whether or not they win next week and then somehow make a bowl game and win that.
Of course, winning next week seems highly unlikely. They are set to face the No. 5 ranked Texas A&M Aggies, and in the process. As a result, 3-7 looks likely, while Vandy is almost certain to fall to 0-10 on the year with the Georgia Bulldogs up next week. Simply put, nothing about this will look impressive anytime soon.
Still, Tennessee football needed a win, and the Vols got a win. Regardless of what happens going forward, Pruitt and UT helped the sport of college football make history on Saturday, and they provided some memories worth looking back on in the process.
