2. Will there be anymore flips or decommitments?

Amidst Tennessee football’s six-game losing streak, a wave of decommitments began. Everybody could see that the Vols were having a rough time on the recruiting trail, and it continued to get more embarrassing for Jeremy Pruitt, as all the momentum he had with this class in the summer has now vanished.

It started on Thanksgiving Day with four-star defensive back Damarius McGhee decommitting. Just a few days later, Terrence Williams, a four-star on Rivals and 247Sports but a five-star on 247Sports Composite and ESPN, gave UT its biggest blow with his decision to decommit. Three-star defensive end Darrell Jackson decommitted a few days after that.

Then, exactly two weeks after Thanksgiving, the Vols suffered two more decommitments on the same day, including four-star in-state tight end Hudson Wolfe and three-star Alabama defensive back Jay Jones. Finally, on the eve of the early signing period, athlete Elijah Howard and defensive back Edwin White decommitted. Howard became the second in-state decommitment for the Vols.

Taking all this into account, the biggest concern for Rocky Top doesn’t just revolve around whether or not people sign but also whether or not others decommit. What’s most important for Pruitt right now is holding down the prospects committed, but if they can manage to do that, it leads to our next storyline.
