Tennessee football moves up in Week 15 SEC Power Rankings
Lost to LSU Tigers 37-34
SEC administrators are probably furious with the Florida Gators. They had the conference championship set up for a matchup between two teams with a College Football Playoff appearance potentially on the line, and Dan Mullen’s team had to go and drop the ball against a bad LSU Tigers team with nothing to play for.
The warning signs didn’t seem there after they beat Tennessee football 31-19, but clearly some of those mistakes were something to worry about. They manifested themselves against LSU, as there were so many unlikelihoods.
You can bring up the shoe-throwing incident at the end to keep the Tigers on the field. That counts. The same holds true with Cade York’s impressive 57-yard field goal followed by Evan McPherson’s 51-yard miss. However, above all, Kyle Trask may have killed his Heisman hopes. Despite Florida gaining over 600 yards of offense, Trask had three turnovers.
That was the difference. As a result, we had to drop this team a spot in our SEC Power Rankings, even below one of the teams they beat earlier in the year. They still have the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC title, but it doesn’t mean the same. This team really threw our power rankings for a major loop.
