Like the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Kentucky Wildcats finished their regular season on time. It ended with those two facing each other and UK winning in dominating fashion. Unlike USC, however, UK was not rushing to end the year, and they still have a solid program under Mark Stoops, so nobody was fired.

Sure, this team finished with a 4-6 record, and they suffered a couple of losses they’d like back, against the Ole Miss Rebels and the Missouri Tigers. However, they also managed to blow out Tennessee football 34-7, and it’s always successful when you can do that.

With four wins, though, why are they down here in our SEC Power Rankings? Well, all four of their wins are against teams below them. Yes, they were lucky enough to face the four worst teams in the league, and they managed to run the table against all of them.

However, everybody else from the Vols on up beat somebody else. UT is still below them, but nobody else with three wins or more could fit that bill. There could still be a bowl game in store for Kentucky, though, and the program is doing everything it could do given its status in the SEC. One losing season doesn’t change that.
